Fertilizer For Bonsai

Fertilizer For Bonsai
Bonsai trees or bonsai plants are not always simple to care for… truth be told, compared to  domestic plants, they need extra care and attention.

Having adequate fertilizer for bonsai plants is critical. As with anything green, it’s very reliant on vitamins and nutrients for growth and health.

Obviously some of the needed nutrients comes from sunlight.

Most wild trees get what they need from their surroundings.  Bonsai plants are trapped in their pots. So they depend on you to provide for them. You have to make sure your bonsai plant is sufficiently watered as well as fertilized.

Fertilizer for bonsai (and most other plants) are the source of it’s food. The simplest fertilizers have potassium, nitrogen, and phosphates. However, bonsai plants have some unique needs. Bonsai plants and trees also need iron and, strangely enough, vitamins… specifically B-complex vitamins. Some bonsai cultivators also use… beer.  Really.

You can make a watery beer and water blend that helps your bonsai plant acquire the complex vitamins that it needs. Then spray this solution on the leaves. It’s important to do this when the air temperature is no higher than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. If you spray the leaves above this temperature, the stomas of the leaves will close up and the tree would be unable to breathe.

Commercially prepared bonsai fertilizer has all of the nutrients and vitamins your bonsai plants and trees need. Generally, spraying and watering should be done daily… but this is just a rule of thumb. Each plant has it’s unique needs and fertilizing regimen.

Factors can include the time of year, the age of the plant or how long the bonsai plant has been in its present pot.
